Peoria Public School Families Can Now Log-in To Their Child's Classroom

This summer, Peoria Public Schools is offering parents the chance to get online, login, and access their child’s information for school records. Letters are being sent home with primary and middle school students in their report cards on the final day of school, and they are being mailed home with high school students’ report cards to explain Peoria Public Schools’ new Family Access program.

With the program, parents can login through a secured site by clicking on the "parents" tab to the left on PSD150 website. There, they will be able to access more information about Family Access and can download an application. After the application is submitted to the Administration Building, parents can access their student’s attendance records, schedule, food service information, and even test scores. Notes from teachers can be sent home electronically through the program as well. Further upgrades and conveniences plan to be released throughout the next school year.

New Principal Assignments Announced for 2008/2009

The Board of Education, along with Mr. Hinton and Administration, announced last month the new faces that will lead two of Peoria’s high schools. Dr. Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat is already preparing for the start of next school year at Manual High School as restructuring takes place. Mr. Steve Ptacek is finishing up his final year as the principal at Cahokia High School before he begins his duties at Richwoods High School on June 1st.
Many faces in leadership at middle and primary schools, and even Administration will also be changing over the summer. At Monday night’s Board of Education meeting, board members approved naming Dr. Mary Davis as Academic Officer. The position is part of restructuring at the Administration level. Dr. Davis will oversee middle and high schools, while Mrs. Cheryl Sanfilip will continue to work with primary schools. Associate Superintendent Dr. Cynthia Fischer is retiring and her position will not be filled.
At the middle school level, one new face will arrive and several other changes are being made. Justin Moore is currently serving as Assistant Principal at Lincoln Park High School near Chicago and is ready to make the move to Central Illinois, where he will serve as principal at Lincoln Middle School. Scott Montgomery is making the move across town to Mark Bills Middle School to serve as principal there, replacing the retiring Rob Bethel. The new leader to replace Dr. Davis at Charles Lindbergh Middle School is expected to be named soon. The replacement for former Roosevelt Magnet School Principal, Taunya Jenkins has not yet been named, however Brett Elliott now permanently holds an Assistant Principal position there. Jenkins is now the Assistant Principal at Manual High School.
There are also switches being made at the primary level. Monday night, Renee Andrews was voted the new principal at Whittier Primary. She has served as Interim Principal since Dr. Kherat began working on Manual’s restructuring. Franklin Edison Principal, Valda Shipp will serve at Glen Oak School next year, and will stay at that school when its new building is complete. Jane Cushing takes over at Franklin Edison, where she has previously served as Assistant Principal.
Roosevelt and Lindbergh remain the only schools with Principal positions to fill. Announcements could be made in the next few weeks to fill those jobs. There are several Assistant Principal jobs that must be filled this summer, including Richwoods, Peoria High, and many on the primary and middle school level.
“We believe the district will have a very stable and hard working staff of leaders in our schools next year that will continue to help our students reach success,” Mr. Hinton says about the changes.
