A Classroom is Calling

classroom pictureA classroom is calling for your help at Peoria Public Schools! There are many opportunities to get involved that will help our students, staff and families succeed.

Currently, there are many initiatives ongoing within the District. Superintendent Lathan is spending second semester traveling to schools and attendance areas throughout the District, holding "Let's Talk" forums with parents and students. Look for upcoming forums on the District's website calendar, located on the homepage, It is at these forums that Dr. Lathan is encouraging parents to get involved in their child's school. Parents and community members are also being asked to get involved by becoming a third grade mentor and reading buddy. Third grade is an important year for testing and development. It is the District's goal to form mentor relationships for every third grade classroom and potentially, every third grade student!

Each school is in the process of putting together an "Our Needs" page.
From classroom helpers to standard school supplies, and from classroom furniture to technology, our school invites the community to see our needs and consider ways you might be able to contribute to the remarkable success of our students, staff and school! By clicking on the "Our Needs" link (on the left sidebar of this page), and then clicking on the school of your choice in the dropdown menu, you can find that school's needs divided into categories to allow you to easily find a way that YOU can help!

Finally, Peoria Public Schools is fortunate to have an outstanding support system that constantly works to find ways and financial resources to help our students. The Peoria Public Schools District 150 Foundation has recently launched the "Right Now Fund." It is an opportunity to make a specific or open donation to the Foundation and see your contribution go to work immediately for our students. Specific focus is being given to technology. Learn more by visiting the Foundation's website!

We hope YOU will look for ways to get involved, know our schools and students and support our District!
