We at Peoria Public Schools District 150 welcome all parents and families to get involved in their student's academic journey. There are many opportunities to get involved with Peoria Public Schools District 150, we encourage families to become active at the individual school level or at the district wide level. If you have any questions please feel free to contact your individual school or Mr. York Powers, Family & Community Coordinator, (309)672-6748.
Parent Advisory Committee:
The district wide Parent Advisory Committee(PAC) is a group formed to help ensure that parents are involved and informed about programs and policies in the school district. Each Title 1 school is required to have parent/guardian representatives for the committee. The meetings are led by York Powers, Family & Community Coordinator. The meetings are an opportunity for parents to discuss new policies and programs in the school district, as well as collaborate and help develop new programs to help increase parental involvement at the school and district level.
Parent University:
We are looking to utilize the Parent University model to adhere to the voices and needs of our students, families, and community. With survey results from our families it was made evident that for this venture to be a success we will need the help of our great community, which includes you. Peoria Public Schools District 150 is looking to provide the opportunity for families to get a wide variety of resources; job skill training, parenting classes, technology training, health classes, social service resources, adult education, how to help student achievement, college preparation, and navigating the modern school system. This new initiative is free to all that are interested. There will be hubs throughout the district that the Parent Universities will be conducted.
College Bound Peoria
A new addition to Peoria Public Schools' Parent University is our "College Bound Peoria" program. College Bound Peoria is an educational program through Parent University designed for 9th grade students and parents to help propel them to higher education. This true partnership between students, parents and District 150 is a cohort program that students and parents will be a part of throughout high school. For the 2013-2014 year we will be accepting 30 students and their parents.
