Good evening Charter Oak families. It is with gratitude for all you give to the school that I make this week's announcements. On Monday, Nov. 23, we welcome our grandparents at 9:00 a.m. for our Grandparent's Day Celebration. Tuesday is the last day before Thanksgiving break. It is regular dismissal time. As I look at the snow filled trees and yard, I want to remind everyone to bundle up as our weather gets colder. I wish everyone a very peaceful and relaxing Thanksgiving.
CHARTER OAK FAMILY READING NIGHT
November 17, 2015
The weather outside was windy and rainy; however, the Charter Oak gym was cozy as students and family sat around the campfire. Charter Oak families joined the staff for Family Reading Night which included campfire songs, stories and snacks. After singing campfire songs and listening to partner stories, parents received some tips from Mrs. Simon, Charter Oak Interventionist, on reading strategies for the home. All students selected a book purchased through our Title I funds. The night ended with students and parents reading by flashlight in a darkened gym. The night was coordinated by Mrs. Sutton, the Charter Oak librarian. Helping with the singing was Mrs. Rodriguez and Mrs. Laird. It was a magical night for everyone!
