Student safety is our top priority in our district and here at Peoria High School. We encourage parents to educate yourself on social media (Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, Tumblr, Kick, Whisper, etc.), have discussions with your child about the dangers and consequences of social media, and set rules and guidelines including keeping your computer in a common area of your home and frequently checking the privacy settings on your child’s accounts. We appreciate your assistance and patience in this matter, as we continue to work to keep our school a safe place to learn for all students.

  • PHS AP Biology completes gel electrophoresis lab

Students in Jennifer Pergler's Advanced Placement (AP) biology class at Peoria High School had the opportunity to perform gel electrophoresis as part of the unit on DNA. Electrophoresis is a technique used in laboratories in order to separate macromolecules based on size. The technique applies a negative charge so proteins move toward a positive charge. Electrophoresis is typically performed in college-level biology classes, so this is an important step in preparing the AP biology students for college-level biology. Peoria High School was able to purchase the equipment to perform the process last year and students and faculty have been anxious to use it. “Students worked so hard prepping for and completing this lab. We are all so proud of them,” says Pergler.
