  • Young Authors 2015-2016

    121 students from Whittier Primary School turned in Young Authors manuscripts this year. Six students will move on to the district competition. The top 3 Young Authors in grades K-2 are Milan Ankrum (Roulds), Shalise Sidener (Fritsch), and Lucas Roos (Fritsch). In grades 3-4, the top three Young Authors are Amaya Herrod (Webb), Bryson Pokarney (Greer), Dietrich Richardson (Whisker).

  • Roosevelt Magnet Auditions

    On Tuesday February 16 from 2:00 -3:15 pm, 4th grade students will have an opportunity to audition for the Roosevelt Fine Arts Magnet School. Please see the flyer by clicking on the link.

  • Family Bingo Night

    PTO Family Bingo Night will take place on February 19 from 6:00-7:15 pm.

  • David Day

    On Tuesday February 23, the school will be having David (Shockley) Day. The day will honor David and his courage to fight leukemia over the last few years. In honor of David, we are asking for all students to wear blue in honor of David's favorite color. The students may wear any blue shirt with uniform bottoms on this day. We are also encouraging students to bring a $1 on this day. If you can please put the money in the envelope and return to the classroom teacher it would be appreciated. Student who are able to donate will receive a recognition slip that will be hung outside the classroom door.

  • Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Fundraiser

    Whittier Primary School is hosting a fundraiser for the LLS from 2/8/16-2/26/16. The event started with a kickoff assembly and honored one of our own students, who has battled Leukemia over the last few years. We have a goal of raising $1000 during the month.

  • Black History Month

    During the month of February, Whittier Primary School is celebrating Black History Month with displays around the buildings, in-class focus, guest speakers, and an all-school assembly at the end of the month. If you would like to learn more about our activities, please contact your student's teacher.

  • 5Essentials Survey

    The school/district is asking for input on our performance as a school during the 2015-2016 school year, and how we can improve from the family/student point of view. Starting on January 11, the 5Essentials Survey will be available for families to participate. The survey can be found at the following website: https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ or can also be found through the link on the webpage in the Headline and Features section. The survey will be available until Friday March 11, 2016. Thank you in advance for helping us reach our school goal of 25% of families providing input through the survey.

  • Illinois Math Academy Math Bowl Competitors

    On Saturday January 16, three Whittier students competed in the Illinois Math Academy Math Bowl competition at Peoria Christian Middle School. All three students, Darrell Taylor, Mariana Martinez, and James Cook, competed at a high level and made Whittier Proud.

  • 3rd Annual History Fair

    On January 7, Whittier hosted their 3rd Annual History Fair. Over 40, 2nd-4th graders participated in the event and did a great job. Click on the link to see pictures of some of the participants.
