    Sterling Middle School Receives International Baccalaureate (IB) Authorization

    Students at Sterling Middle School will start the school year on August 18th at a newly authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. Sterling Middle School is one of four Peoria Public Schools that have spent the last three years working through the pre-authorization process for the IB Programme. Sterling Middle School received the official notification on Thursday afternoon, July 10th for a three-year Middle Years Programme (MYP) offering MYP years 1, 2 and 3. According to the International Baccalaureate website, Sterling Middle School will be the only Illinois school outside of Chicago to offer the Middle Years Programme.     New Principal Named for 2014-2015 at Sterling

    Mr. Joe Gallo is currently the Assistant Principal at Lincoln K-8 and has worked for the District for 13 years, serving as a teacher at Woodruff and Manual High Schools, and an Assistant Principal at Richwoods High School, prior to his current position. Mr. Gallo is excited to meet current students and parents at a special open house at Sterling. The open house will take place on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Current Sterling Principal, Donna O’Day, is retiring at the end of the current school year, following 25 years of service with the District.
